Thank you for your faithful vocation and the way you’ve served the Church with steadiness and sincerity over the years. What has meant even more to me personally, though, is your openness in speaking about mental health and how it fits into a life of faith. As someone who has always tried to stay strong in my beliefs, I never expected to deal with anxiety later in life, and honestly, it’s been unsettling at times. Hearing a priest speak honestly about burnout, anxiety, and the reality of those struggles has made it feel less isolating and more human. It’s helped me understand that turning to God in prayer and also acknowledging what’s going on mentally are not in conflict, but can actually go hand in hand. I’m grateful for your example and for reminding people like me that faith doesn’t disappear in struggle—it meets us right there in it.
